We've got two The Phil and Teds, which DD1 loved and used happily until she was almost 2, and the Quicksmart Travel Cot which DD2 loves and we bought it cause DD2 didn't like the P&Ts!
I'd prefer the Quicksmart for size (for the child's benefit that is), ease of setting up and comfort. It's a lot bulky for travel though, more like a normal portacot I guess but it is lighter and once setup, not as big. The P&TS is great for traveling and small spaces. Not all kids like the confined feeling though. Maybe hire or borrow one, if possible, and see what your LO thinks.
We have the older style P&T and absolutely love it. For the lovely ladies who has issues with how enclosed it was- P&T was listening and the new model is all mesh sides
