hi everyone, my little one is 10 months old and has her first cold. she woke up with it yesterday. she is constantly sneezing, has a runny nose and her eyes are constantly watering. she is quite irritable and not sleeping well at all. did anyone else's bubs get really sick with a cold or did it just last a few days, i'm a bit worried
My DD has what I think is a cold. She is only 4 months. She was coughing so badly for about a week and now thats gone she stil has a bit of a runny nose which I actually think may be from hayfever (she sneezes a lot like me but thats all the time) Make sure she doesnt get a fever or listless because what you think may be a cold may not be after all. Hopefully in a few days to a week she will be back to her old self. My DD was still very much her playful self while she was sick.
Poor Madeleine, it's not fun feeling so miserable.
With my DS, I've found that his colds seem to be heavy for around 5-7 days, but the nose wiping is still required for at least another week, ie colds last for 2 weeks. I haven't used one, but know people who swear by vapourisers that you can get from your chemist. And if she's really snuffed up, then raising her mattress a little bit when she sleeps can make her breathing easier (in the same way that it works for us).
And get some garlic & other natural things for yourself, cos there's a really good chance that you'll get what she has. I have had more colds in one season than I reckon I've had in the 10 years BC (before child)
thanks guys, taking her to doctor this afternoon, i can't seem to lower her temps with nurofen and she's quite lethargic, her right eye keeps constantly watering too. hope she is ok, thanks again!
DP was working so my DP's sister took us to docs and it turns out she has an ear infection as well as a cold so is on antibiotics now hopefully she will be better soon!
I hope she feels better soon, the anti biotics should work and you will see a substantial improvement usually in 48 hours sometimes earlier. Poor little one, its awful when they are unwell i wish her a speedy recovery.
