You should put him back in formula until he is closer to 12 months old. It sounds like his body isn't handling it

Are you sure he's not teething? DD usually has acidic poos when she's teething which gives her nappy rash. She's only had non-teething related nappy rash once. We use Sudocream which works a treat. I actually put a small bit on her with each nappy change which may explain why she hasn't really had much nappy rash (besides when teething).

It could be the cows milk so I guess returning to just formula might answer that question. It sounds like a good idea to wait until he's 12 months before trying cows milk again though. DD had cows milk (a full bottle, not mixed with formula) for the first time at 12.5 months and had no problems at all.

I'd be wary of any book that advises something different to the current guidelines. Lots and lots of research goes into the guidelines. Definitely dairy is ok at 9 months, but I wouldn't be giving cows' milk until after 12 months. It is unlikely that your lo will have a problem with cows' milk when he's older if he's tolerating the formula ok, so I'd just hold off on the milk until after he's 1. Is there any reason other than the book that you want him to have milk already?

cost mainly - formula is so expensive!! he's more important than anything though so back on formula the last couple of days - he's a different kid! bottom no longer red and he's so much more happier - must have been that cow's milk!!! thanks everyone for your help and replies
