Gift for OB

OMG i must be too generous
We gave our OB really good pen a and a bottle of Moet Chandon and for FS a Pen as well and a bottle of Grandfather port
We got all the nurses from SCN a big basket of chocs from The Chocolatier.
It cost us over $300 each, but they all went beyond the call and either created our babies lives or saved our babies lives. Our twins births and pg were difficult and touch and go so many times- we were just so grateful for having such beautiful and skilled people working with us to bring our babies home, we felt that we just wanted to give them a token of what it meant to us
Although we paid for the knowledge and skill, their kindness, compassion and understanding went far beyond what was expected- and very much appreciated.

This is how i felt too. I certainly didn't feel obliged to give anything to anyone, but i really wanted to to show my appreciation.
A pen is a nice idea.
I meant to say i asked the receptionist what my OB drank, that's how i ended up with a nice bottle of red.

Ditto - Big Time!! I may have birthed my baby but it was the support and assistance from my OB, her staff, Nakita's Paed's, and the numerous Nurse's, and MW's that really made a huge difference, from my first appointment to our final discharge 12 weeks after delivery. I did up photo frames (the one's with three spots), one with a picture of Nakita, one with a piccie of the birth notice I put in the paper incase they missed it and the third was a personal thankyou note,v ery specific to how they helped me I wrote (by hand ) I didn't spend a lot of money but made it more personal I guess, thinking a bottle of Moet would have been a good idea... next time!!!

My gift was may baby safe and sound and home with me, that was more than enough!!

I gave my ob some beauty products (we had spoken about them at an appt) and some chcos for her staff. I agree they are paid to do a job but if they also do a wonderful, caring job at such an important time in your life why not thank them. same as that I give my fdc carer a gifton her bday or xmas or sometimes to say thanks when she goes beyond the norm for DS or give my cleaners a gift to saythanks at the end of the yr. it is nice to recognise people and thank them.
Kelly - do any of your clients ever thank you witha gift - i am sure they do (and should if they feel so inclined!)

I wanted to buy my OB a gift but just couldnt think of anything and then the one thing I was really happy about getting him when I went into his office he already had one so I left it at that,

I was going to get him one of the willow tree figurines with mother, father and baby its gorgous and was the perfect gift but as I said someone beat me to it LOL,

there are lots of fanct inventive baskets you can get now, like the chocolate ones where they make them look like flowers, they are lovely and my OB had a few of those in his reception for them all to share,

Hi all

I worked for an OB many years ago and we loved to get things to share in the staff room. Yummy food and chocs were always popular. We also had a photo board and if a photo was not supplied we always took one to put up. I just loved the postnatal visits and seeing the beautiful babes after so many months of getting to know the mums.

Thanks for everyones replies. My beautiful baby girl has been gift enough for me. I had a yucky pregnancy so having her finally arrive was fabulous.

I agree - I know I paid my OB for his services but he was truly great and helped us through CVS, GD and terrible allergies for the 40weeks. His bedside manner in hosi was great and my labour was all that I could have hoped for. It went beyond what I thought I was capable of and that was purely because of my midwife (who stayed past the end of her shift to deliver me) and my OB who coaxed me through and then did a great job afterwards in fixing me up! The two LC's at my hosi saved me from a mini breakdown after some not-so-great night staff got me upset and then I was having issues with BF'ing. They got me through and got me feeding really well. My nursery attendant who was also my antenatal class teacher looked after our bubba the first night as she had low blood sugars due to the GD and also took her a few hours another night as I was exhausted. I felt so much better knowing she was there and looking after Chloe especially the first night which was scary. So I think that although they are just doing their job, when people do it with such compassion and care that it should be recognised as it has gone beyond their job description. They don't get paid to come and give you a hug when they know you need one and that is the part that I think matters most and makes all the difference.

Thanks for the ideas, they are all great. Keep them coming though if anyone has another suggestion. I'm going to go on the weekend and put something together so have a few more days for suggestions.
