Hi, Im just wondering what people do if they go out at night with bub, say to a friends house for dinner and it is your baby's bedtime, do you just put them to sleep, say, in a pram while you are there at their normal bedtime or do you keep them up until they can go to their own cot? (thanks I am having some confusion about sleeping at the moment!)
Hi Aimz,
When Mj was very little we would put her to sleep in the pram when she fell asleep, there was no real bedtime as such, but she would often have a feed around 8ish and then drop off to sleep... so she would go in the pram.
If she wouldnt settle to sleep, but was happy, we would stay and let her sleep when she wanted/needed too
If she wouldnt settle and was unhappy we would leave as it wasnt fair on her.
Now i take the kindakot and at around her bed time i put her down in that... again if it is an issue we leave, but if she wakes, i try and get her back off to sleep...
it really depends on the situation.
Sometimes we keep her up a bit later if we are going home within an hour of her bedtime.
Under rolling age or potential - I would put them on friends double/queen bed still with a pillow either side and they would sleep, after that, I took portacot, I am very efficient at putting it up and down now!!
I have a further question on this one- we have a whole bedtime routine going- bath, bottle, bed. It works great at home, but needless to say its a little time consuming and inconvenient at someone else's house.
Does anyone else get around the bath-time thing? I've heard one person say they just do like a little sponge bath with a washcloth when they are out- anyone tried that?
ETA- to answer the original question, at my parents, we put him to bed after his bath and then when we are ready to go home, we just carefully move him from bed to car and then to bed at home. It has worked quite well.
