Question Good book for toddler when mum is expecting

I've been told there are a few books out there on the subject. We would like to read Mackenzie a book about the new baby in the next few weeks just to help her prepare a little. Of course I don't expect her to understand fully but it might be a nice way to ease into it all. Any ideas on book titles?

I love the book "There's a house inside my mummy" - Giles Andreae & Vanessa Cabban

It is a rhyming book, My little girl just loves it...we still read it now.

I can almost recite it just sitting here!!!

I've been told the ABA has a book out that has pics but no words, that way you make the story up to suit you. If you know sex of bubs you can refer to it etc & you can tell the story in a way your child might understand for their age.

Julia got given "When I was a baby" by Deborah Niland, its so cute and gorgeous describing when they were a baby what they do and now they are a big boy/girl what the differences are! Julia still reads it a year later and its one of her favourites!

We have a few here, but the one that still gets read a lot by my toddler is "Mummy Mummy what's in your tummy?". It is a lift the flaps book as well which adds to the appeal sometimes.

I'm a Big Sister is a good one as it explains that mummy & daddy still love her and that she is still special but she is even more special now as she is also a big sister.

I have bought my DD 'There's a House Inside my Mummy' and she just loves it but I think it is a little obscure to understand the concepts so I also have another book called 'The New Baby'. It is an Usborne First Experiences book. It follows the story of the Bunn family and what happens when they have a new baby. How they prepare for it, what happens when the baby comes and Grandma & Grandad come to look after the kids while mum goes to hospital (it doesn't go into detail so probably not ideal if you are planning on having your toddler at the birth or if you aren't going to the hospital . . . ) and what happens when the baby comes home. There is a picture of the mum breastfeeding and although it doesn't say much in the text, I have talked to DD about what will happen when I bf our new baby.

It is a simple book, with a simple story but easy enough to talk about with a toddler.

I think reading a few different books has helped DD to understand better what is going on. My SIL had a baby last week which has also helped because DD recognised that her tummy wasn't big anymore and there was a baby. I think it is a whole heap of little things that help the concept to sink in.
