With DD I stopped feeding her to sleep during the day & just let her pass out on the couch/floor and then transfering her to her bed & waking her no later than 3.30 and that seemed to stop the early morning wakeups (however it still didn't stop the other 3-5 wakeups a night)
Yep we still do the same occasionally....let her fall asleep in the playpen in the lounge (with lights dim and the sound quiet on the telly) if she doesn't want to go to bed, then transfer her when she enters the deep sleep stage. 99.9% of the time she stays asleep with that method.
If the arvo sleep is 'easier' then maybe start trying something different there. Take her for a walk or try a new stories & cuddles to sleep routine (or whatever you think might work). It'll probably take longer at first, but hopefully she'll get used to it before baby gets here.
DS is up at 5-5:30 most mornings, hungry. It doesn't matter how long or what time he naps, or when he has dinner...
For bed time, could you try bringing everything forward a bit? I'd just let her sleep in the arvo too.... I not it's not worth waking DS anyway - it makes no difference to the bedtime or wakeup time.
ive always been keen on her having a good routine at bed time, ive alway tried to be at home for her afternoon sleeps etc. i dont know if i could deal with her being up till when ever and just falling asleep....mainly as i just think she wouldnt switch off and go to sleep, if i ever try and take her for a walk in the pram to get her to sleep she is always to interested in whats going on and she stays awake! i dont know..... maybe its something worth trying. really id try anything right now DHs idea was to keep her up long at night in the hope she might fall asleep quicker and sleep later but i dont think that would make a difference, ive sort of truied that before and all she ends up doing is waking up more int he night as she is over tired then sleep for longer in the arvo!!!
In an ideal world....if such a magical place exists...she would wake up any time after 5am, sleep for a bit in the arvo and then i can put her in bed before 8.30pm and she could just play/chat to herself in her room and then go to sleep on her own.....i can dream
Just leaving him to fall asleep never worked with my DS. He has done it a few times recently in front of the tv, but it's a very rare event. He will just keep going and going and going...
but walking or riding in teh car will generally knock him out, so we do that as a fallback. He needs a lot of help to wind down and even more if he's overtired (as he often is) - perhaps your DD is the same. Does she like books? DS will now do books & bed, though it took some time to get it working (and we still need to do songs & cuddles as well very often)
