Has anyone else thought this...is it mean, lol???

I was just looking back of photos of my DS when he was newborn and while he was tiny. I just had the though, 'wow, he's not the prettiest baby is he?' LOL!! When he was born he did have pretty bad bruising because he was born really quickly (there's a name for it but I can't remember what it is). Then when he was little he lost all of the hair at the front of his head. It was pretty hilarious, but he looked like a little old bald man! So he just looked sooo funny! Now of course he couldn't get any cuter but when he was a little baby, well lucky you have mummy goggles when you have kids cause mine wasn't the nicest to look at, but I thought he was the most gorgeous thing I had seen since I had DD (who really was a gorgeous newborn!).
So has anyone done this or am I the only nasty mummy here??!

I haven't personally. But a friend of mine asked me the exact same question. Her DD is now 18months old and she stills looks at her and say it!

lol, i'm sure many people think the same thing - both my babies were good looking newborns, they were c/s babes, so they weren't all squished and bruised, but they both went through a bit of an awkward stage at a few months old. but, now are the most gorgeous babies to walk the planet (i may be biased...)

Riley was incredibly bruised as a newborn but we thought he was gorgeous, looking back he just looks dreadful LOL
DD2 was REALLY chubby at about 6-9 months and now looking back we think OMG she was FAT!!

Oh gosh Jazz went through this awful ugly period at 4-6 weeks where she got those newborn pimples all over her cheecks and chin, all her hair at the front fell out and she looked like a little fat balding old man. I thought she was gorgeous (mummy goggles hehe) but looking at photos I think "oh, that was not a good look!!!"

Hehehehehe, she's the most beautiful little princess now, but those few weeks she did have a head only her mummies could love

Hehe, I've got some terrible pics of DS.
He seemed a little overcooked and a bit wrinkly, he was also on the runty side so no chubby rolls for a few months. He really was a beautiful boy but in some pics...he just looks a little wrong

My two boys were goodlooking newborns. But my firstborn DD was UGLY - I said it then and won't deny it now. She is absolutely gorgeous now, but a real ugly duckling. It is the truth, and it never made me love her any less (plus she was the spitting image of me as a newborn, so I figured she would grow into her looks like I did ).

Yep... DD#2... she was not so cute... looked like she has gone a few rounds with mike tyson! Then as a baby she wasn't the cutest kid, but at the time I thought she was divine! I remember saying to a friend of mine, 'isn't she cute?' and my friend said yes, but I kinda thought she faultered at the time and looking back she probably did! LOL

TBH I really think she is a very pretty girl now, huge blue puppy dog eyes framed with freakishly long eyelashes and a beautifully shaped face... I asked my partner if it was just me thinking she is growing up into a beautiful little girl and he agreed with me... lol. I suppose I will wait a few years and look back on pics and then decide

    xx

Lol! I must not have had mummy goggles on when my DD was born. She was very not pretty or cute! We only bought the hospital newborn photo package because it felt wrong to send her very first photo's back. :0

Of course we think she's much cuter now, but you just never know do you....

DS also went through a stage at around 6 weeks old when he got those bad ugly pimples all over his face I could see it made him not so cute to look at & we had a funeral to go to.... people "usually" gush all over newborns but everyone kinda looked & changed the subject or left
I felt so heartbroken for DS that I left as soon as the funeral was over, didnt go to the cemetary or the wake. I cuddled him extra tight that day.
I was so relieved when those pimples dissapeared (I dont remember DD getting them at all!)

There are also a few pics of both my kids as babies when I think "oh..... I dont remember them ever looking like that"

Of course we all love them regardless... it doesnt make you a bad / mean mummy for occasionally seeing bad pics of your kids & being able to admit they weren't the easiest on the eyes at that point in time hahaha

DD1 was a really cute premmie, but DD2 was like a scrawny rat and it wasn't till she was about 6 weeks old and was closer to 2.5kgs that she looked really lovely.

Lol glad I'm not alone hahaha Of course DD1 is the spitting image of me and I just thought she was the most beautiful little thing I'd ever seen... and I still stand by that! Although sometimes now I look at her (either in photos or when she sticks her face up close to me demanding attention) and I squint at her and think, 'Oh, you poor thing... *I* think you're beautiful but are you *really*?' I mean, she IS absolutely gorgeous, but is that what everyone else sees when they look at her?

DD2, on the other hand, well she popped out, they laid her on my chest and I went, 'OMG HAHAHA SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE HER DAD!' Cute as a button, but then her hair all fell out and she's so fair she has no eyebrows and she's always *frowning* like her dad... DH and I obviously still think she's just the most adorable little thing in the world but I know quite honestly she's not really a *pretty* baby... more an interesting-looking one, maybe?
I wonder if sometimes I think she's not 'pretty' because I wanted so badly for her to be a boy, and when I look at her resemblance to her dad I see that she *should* have been a boy, and then she'd be handsome, kwim, instead of an 'un-pretty girl' lol. Poor kid.
If she grows into her looks like her dad did, well, she'll probably be a pretty awkward teen but once she hits 19 she'll be beating the boys off with a big stick! I think she'll be okay once she grows some hair, I just am not that big a fan of baldy babies and DD1 had about two inches all over right from birth :/

Hahaha! I was just thinking this today... I'm editing home video of DD's first 7 months to give to my grandmother for christmas and looking back, DD has has some interesting looks! Also went through the pimples and receding hairline but I barely noticed at the time. Have always thought she's the most beautiful thing on earth.

When she was born her nose was squashed sideways against her cheek and her little bottom lip was all twisted. The midwife went to great lengths to explain that this was because she had been sitting with her face against my pelvis for quite some time and that I should not worry, it would straighten out in time. She sounded so grave and worried for me... but I didn't get it at all! Just kept saying 'look at her squashed little nose! It's so cute!!!'. Ahhh Mummy goggles. Glad I had them on or my little one's scrunched up face would have concerned me far more!
