DS did this a lot. Also you are nearly at 6 weeks which is a major growth spurt and really common time for newborns to be unsettled.
The only way you can hold him all the time is in a sling (well that i can see) so while thats not an option i would just try the pram like Liz suggested.
Forget the housework, I mean it bugger any visitors who come over if thats what you are worried about.
