Like Krysalyss, I think it's most likely that he was bringing up mucus and the soup came with it.
It's pretty common, Pie woke up coughing the other day & vomited up a heap of milk but was fine after & since.

I would just keep an eye on him, see how he goes today. Maybe if he's still vomiting tomorrow or if it's really persisten through teh day today, get him checked out. Whatever the cause, be it a tummy bug or food that was off or a cold, you need to keep an eye on his hydration, make sure he is getting plenty of fluids. If he's lethargic, has no wet nappies or can't keep any fluids down you will need to get him checked out sooner.

    Hope he's feeling better soon

    Thanks ladies

He hasn't thrown up since this morning, which is good. I first gave him a rice cracker, that was OK, then I gave him some weetbix and he was fine with that. I gave him a big drink too. He coughed some more but a smaller cough, it's almost like he's too scared to cough hard, poor love. He's pretty clingy and not as happy as usual but not to bad TBH, babbling away to himself and I even got a few smiles, so I will keep an eye on him and hopefully he won't throw up any more. I'm going to throw out the 3 little serves of the chicken soup anyway, I'll make a fresh batch next week and only freeze a handful of portions. Thanks again for your advice and well wishes ladies, I really appreciate it

My son has vomited up everything in his stomach while trying to cough up his mucus. It's horrid to watch, isn't it? Their stomachs get so irritated coughing that up everything comes.

I doubt you've poisoned your son or there was anything wrong with the soup.

    Hope he's better soon.

Thanks Taurean and FabFiona, it does sound like the mucus doesn't it? I'm feeling much better now thinking that maybe the soup is not the culprit! lol. He's sleeping now, hopefully he's coughed up the bulk of it.
