Hello,
I have a 12 day old baby who is now starting to become more alert. After each feed lately, roughly every 3 hours she is awake and I give him a bit of tummy time and a cuddle then he yawns a few times and I put him in a wrap and down in his cot. He now just lies there awake for up to 2 hours for the next feed. He doesn't cry but just lies awake. I presume if he isn't crying he isn't unhappy but just wondered if perhaps I should be trying to keep him awake longer before settling? I just don't want to over stimulate him? I don't want him to get use to falling alseep in my arms! First time mum so probably just over paranoid!!
He is only 12 days old! Just try to enjoy him mas much as possible.
I suggest reading Pinky Mckays sleeping like a baby and another great book called helping your baby to sleep.
Falling alseep close to you is the most natural thing for him to want to do. He will go through major milestones and his routine will probably change, enjoy interacting wiht him as much a s possible cause the grow up so quickly
Thanks so much for your reply, I guess sometimes you just want some reassurance from experience mums and that always makes you feel better. This time he actually fell asleep in his cot by himself after about an hour. But you are so right, I should stop trying to do everything "right" and just go with the flow! I have always been an organised person so I think it is just getting use to going with the flow a bit more! I appreciate your response! Thank you!
