When DD was in ICU in May, I would have loved some magazines or books, snacks, etc. Just things to fill in time because she was in an induced coma for nearly 24hours I had to sit around & wasnt able to do anything. If its just a couple of hours then she probably wont need much just having someone there to talk to would be a big help.

A balloon or two for her little boy, they can be hours of fun, and if you are near a spotlight you can get helium one's from Sparty's for $0.99 eac and also put in some boost stuff and they will last a little longer.

Books, short one's incase his attention span is short

A dvd player with his favourite tv shows.

Food for mum, soup, tea, coffee in thermos's, and some healthy snack food as sometimes it can be really hard to get away for something decent to eat, I struggled with DD being able to only nip out while she was sleeping. Something for her to have for breakfast, because it can be even hard to get a piece of toast. Something to read, that is light reading and can be read in short bursts.

HTH's and hope everything goes well for them and they get some good results and answers you are doing a beautiful thing xxoo

When Little V was in ICU last yr, was a dreadful time yet having some company and someone to talk to was one thing that can help pass time my sister came and stayed with me at the hospital for a couple of nights and I have to admit, it was such a relief to have someone there to keep my mind off things. So exactly what Daydream believer has mentioned. I think your a wonderful friend being there for your friend.
