Holding her head - is it teeth?

For about the last four days DD - 8 months has been holding her head (like "The Scream") around her ears and really crying. Do you think this is her teeth coming through or something else? She still doesn't have any teeth except for her left molar (I think, it's very raised).

It's sad because she holds her head, rocks and wails and looks so unhappy

I should also add she's still waking almost every hour till about 4.30 when she decides it's waking up time.

Please tell me it's just teeth and it will pass

Smee does this when her back teeth are coming down/up so it could be. I took her to the doctor as i thought it was an earache, but he looked and said there was no redness, and it was probably associative pain (the nerves are dense and close there) from her teething. I find it'll be bad for a few days then it eases off for a few weeks then comes on a few days again, as they move down.

    - i hope she feels better soon hun, it's awful watching them suffer.

Sorry but don't really know. I would probably take her to the GP to make sure she doesn't have an ear infection but apart from that are you trying the old favourites like panadol and bonjela to try and ease her mouth pains to see if that helps her ear pain?
Best of luck and I really hope this passes for you both real soon.

Yep, I'd suggest a quick trip to the Dr to check her ears too. If her ears are OK then I'd say the teething monster has arrived and yes it will pass. Our DS has 8 teeth plus two molars just coming through. he has only learnt to sleep through the night in the last 6 weeks and Sunday night he had a shocker and it was just teething pain, he was good as gold last night 7.30pm to 7.15am. They come and go so just take it day by day and if you need to you can try some baby panadol or nurofen. I know some parents are against giving drugs to their little ones but to see my son crying out in pain breaks my heart because there is nothing I can do to help him and a dose (even a half dose) eases his pain and lets him get his much needed rest.

I went to the chemist earlier and got some Panadol, so i'll be usiing that tonight. I think I might take her to the Dr tomorrow though in case it is an ear infection.

    Thanks guys
