Hi guys. There is no need to give your baby water when they are little. It has no nutritional value and as their tummies are so small it takes up space that is best used for their food (breast milk or formula) to help them grow. Formula needs to be made up strictly according to the instructions as it can be dangerous for your baby if the concentrations are too much / too little. With BF babies, the foremilk is their equivalent to water and is more than enough to quench their thirst if that is the problem. In summer they may feed more often or for a shorter time depending on their requirements.
In our mothers day giving water was *normal* and encouraged but that practice is not encouraged anymore. Most babies were also formula fed at that time too. Talk to your MCHN or your doctor to check for your baby specifically
