I have not tried this, and I don't know how practical it would be - just thought about it, but if you put a normal cloth nappy over the night nappy - that could add some extra absorpsion without you having to buy nappy liners ect. I mean the old fasion folded cloth nappy. Yes it would make his bum look big, but him being dry is the objective
