My almost 6 month old DD hasn't had a sleep over yet but she will be sleeping over at her Grumpy & Gran's in a couple of weeks probably. Was thinking about doing it this weekend but her 1 & 2 year old cousins are sleeping over my parent's house & they can't handle 3 really young kids over night just yet - maybe when they are all a few years older.

I'm really looking forward to her first sleep over and being able to sleep in.

My DD had her 1st sleep over at 2 months and although I hardly noticed the 1st night cause I was so sick, I made the 2 hour drive the 2nd night just to be in the house with her, but my wonderful SIL still got up to her in the night...

But as for the 1st one that was knowing, it was hard, but my parents were so looking forward to it, I dragged myself away and cried for the whole 2 hrs home..

I find it easier to leave when my DD can wave goodbye, not that she knows, but she won't associate sleep with mummy and daddy leaving me..

No sleepovers here yet either. I have been out without him for one hour since he was born and he was a crying mess when I got home, so I haven't left him since.
Your dd will most likely cope better than you. If she doesn't they can call you. Just enjoy yourself. I hope you have a great night.

Ours have never had a sleepover, per se, but we have had a night without Molly for our second wedding anniversary when we stayed at a hotel, and MIL came over to stay at our house. We were okay - we certainly missed her, but it was a nice break.

Wow, none of mine have ahd sleep overs yet. I don't see sleepovers happening till at least when they are 10 & its at friends place.
I just don't have the need/see the point in having them sleep over at grandma's etc house.

Even when I had Isla, Grandma came over & stayed in the house for the 3 or so hours I was giving birth. We left at 10pm & DH went home again at 1 am ish.

I remember the first time we left Evan with Grandma so we could go see a movie during the day. I think he was about 5 months old. That was terrible & the movie just went on & on (2nd Lord of the rings) I almost ran all the way home once I could get out of there LOL. Evan was fine.

I very rarely had sleepovers as a young kid, until I started having them with friends (maybe about grade 2 or 3?) as all our family were too far away. But my step sister's boys have had sleepovers with many different family members since they were babies, most often with us (I was a teenager at the time). Their parents are actually quite conservative, and not keen on them having too many sleepovers with friends, but family was always okay. The boys have LOVED it, they get spoilt rotten, and have a wonderful time. It's given me a great insight into how wonderful it can be for kids to spend lots of time with their extended family (if they want to of course) and I can only hope our kids will have the same. My nephews have a wonderful bond with most of our family members, particularly with my mum, who they spent so much time with. Even when I moved out of home, they came to stay (and still do, although they're now 14 and 11 LOL). It's been good when it came to staying with friends, they were cool about it, because they were used to being away from home at a young age.

Our nieces (SILs kids) have had sleepovers with us since they were about 4 and 2. It was just easier than their parents waking them up to take them home late at night. And they get pancakes in the morning LOL! They love it, and often ask when they can come to stay next.

So while I think there's nothing at all wrong with kids not having sleepovers, I can certainly see the benefits if you have people who are excited to have them stay My mum is, my MIL isn't. I'm not fussed either way

Well a quick update for you all... Had a good night, it was nice to have a break.. but as I was drinking (alot i might add *rubs head*) I walked in the house to go in and check on her, got to her cot and realised she wasn't there and ended up in a bubblery drunken mess LOL But when I got her home today I was so excited and she was excited too she was squeeling and giving me cuddles soooo cute....
