OK Trillian, you can stop now LOL!

Gah! I reckon I have no hope if she already has two big brothers to teach her how to do boy stuff .

ANY gender child will track mud through the house LOL
    Absolutely!...

DS1 is an absolute horror, we tear our hair out trying to get him to do anything! DS2 will spend 5 or 10 minutes every night tidying his room without being asked, hates it messy. DD will let it get messy, then after a while gets sick of it & cleans it (also without being asked). I am wondering what 4th option there couldbe for this little bundle.

Also...(and remember when I say this that I wanted another girl! lol...) she will take our makeup, our perfume, our clothes (and DH's)... she helps herself to our things in a way that neither of the boys is inclined to do...

Only having a boy, my experience is based purely on carefully observing the kids at mothers group and talking with friends, so take it with whatever salt you want!!

I agree with the comments of PP that girls seem to be more independent. There is no doubt about it that the girls in my mothers group play on their own much better than the boys, who seem to need to come back to mum and play with mum more often than the girls. I have also noticed recently that the girls seem to be more socially aware (albeit in a very self centered 1 year old way!). As an example, when all the kids are on the floor playing, the girls seem more aware of where others are and are more likely to crawl around others to get places (but not always!). Boys on the other hand seem to have the same lack of subtle awareness that can drive us bonkers about our hubbies- my son managed to collide into about 5 other children in the space of five minutes, and you could just see him going "what?" with that oblivious boy look!

Girls, or at least the ones I know, seem more likely to sit. One of the mothers the other day asked me to hold her daughter while she went to the loo, and her sweet little girl just sat on my lap and looked about. My son would never, ever do that. Must go, always. I know its temperament too, but this is not the first time I've noticed this trend.

I am very much hoping for a quiet girl next time! I love my active boy, he is a great deal of fun, but he is a great deal of work too!
