We took 21-month-old DD to the kiddies playground yesterday.
She made a beeline for the swing even though there was another little boy on it. So we made her wait her turn.
Then happy, happy, swing, swing for longer than she should have been on as I was conscious that she was hogging it.
So we took her off it.
She BAWLED. Refused to go on anything else even though I put her on the top of the slide (she likes slides). Instead tried to hurl herself off the side of the slide and when her feet touched the ground she was off running back to the swing.
Such fun!
Anyhow, we decided we'd best head back home. Easier said than done. Kicking and screaming when we tried to put her in the stroller and yes, it did take both of us.
Still crying fifteen minutes later even though we were now well away and contorting herself in the stroller and trying to point at the beeping swing.
Last night at bedtime she found a picture of a swing in her book. Refused to let me turn the page and kept pointing to it for ten minutes so I had to say, "yes DD, that's a swing" at least 50 times.
I think they have a pretty good memory. Nina can remember things we've done, places we've been or people we've met from a few months ago. She's only met my grandparents twice, first time when was 12 months old, second time was 12 months ago, and she still talks about them. We don't remind her of them either, she reminds us!
I htink I know what you should buy for her birthday ROFL. It's funny how they become obsessed with something like that. For my youngest it was the slide - every time we'd go within cooee of a park he'd start acting up.
quite a while ago while yelling at the dog i said "for f's sake". dd1 repeated it and i changed it to oh cake cake. Well, she still says it and says it in the correct context. She alo remembers a boy from mothers group hurting her sister....that was ages ago!
