PP.....i wouldn't be too worried Ashley obviously needs this sleep and whilst she is still happy enough to go back to bed at night i wouldn't be too concerned - some kids just need more sleep then others.
My first son stopped all day sleeps by the time he was 18mths too but my second son is still having a sleep some days now at 3.
Hi.... my son who is 8 yrs now used to have huge sleeps and i loved it (as it was my sleep as well ). Everyone said 'oh you cant let tom sleep for all that time he wont sleep at night!' i said 'want to make a bet?' So he had day sleeps until 3yrs slept from 1pm til 3 or 4m then went back to bed at 6 or 7 pm throught til 6 or 7 am!
MMM but my second DS who is nearly 6 mths does the 20 min cat naps and it is soooo annoying !
I'd say enjoy it now PP - it may change in the future.
DS was having some good naps there for a while - 2 hours, maybe 3... now we are lucky if we get 30 minutes out of him ....BUT.. if we get the 2 hours - it takes at least until 9pm to get him to sleep at night...
PP, DS2 is the same. At home he will sleep for 3 - 4 1/2 hours during the day, and then go straight to bed after dinner and sleep till about 6am (which is the time we have to get up for work anyway). At day care he sleeps for about 2 - 2 1/2 hours. I don't think he gets too much sleep because he is just as tired in the late afternoon whether he has a shorter or longer nap.
I would enjoy it while you can. Most of the time it is a good thing. It can be a pain when you are on holidays and can't go out and do things in the middle of the day, but mostly it's good. DS1 doesn't sleep during the day everyday (luckily he does most days though), so I am getting a glimpse of what life will like without day sleeps. AAgggghhhh!!
my DD sleeps from 40min-1hr anywhere from 9.30am and then same around 2pm. i have to seriously RUSH RUSH RUSH to get some things done, that time flies!
she will go to bed at 7pm and sleep through until 5.30am though.
DD#1 would sleep 1 - 4pm. She was still having an arvo nap til she was just past 3yrs old, by this time it would only be max 1hour until we noticed it really affecting her settling for night time sleep - also coincided with TT for her. Bed has always been 7pm and up around 7am.....although the moochy is starting to jump out of bed approx 6.30am!
DD#2 is napping approx 1.30 - 3.30pm (max - unless had late night/busy period etc interrupting day sleeps). Bed is also at 7pm and she goes through til approx 7am as well (unless big sister pays a noisy visit to her or the toilet! lol!)
Tonight for example, she is still singing and calling out mummy at 9.20pm!! We had a late late night with carols last night and then she had a major nap today as well as sleeping in. So tonight is definitely out of the norm! *phew*
