How many steps to be classed as walking?

M can take 3-4 and stand on her own for long periods. But its still walking from say armchair to armchair, not holding onto anything

So how many steps do they need to take before falling over, to class them as being able to walk?? just curious. I dont think M is walking, but shes learning to.

I think it's when they start doing it all the time - so the crawling is forgone in favour of walking everywhere. Once they start taking steps, it doesn't usually take long to progress into full time walking (at least it didn't with my kids anyway )

I classed Jazz as walking when she would walk to us when we had are arms out to her, and not plonk her butt on the ground and crawl haha

I always used to say when they are taking at least 10 steps or more, and not crawling much anymore at all.. As they can sometimes take 3-6 steps then go back to crawling and not walk for a while.. But i find most kiddies get a move on once they are walking.

Ashton is walking IMO. He's been walking for a couple of months. He still crawls most places when we are home because of the hard wooden floors, but if we are out where there is carpet he happily takes a lot of steps. He walked from one side of the room to the other at playgroup the other week. To me that is walking. But he will still crawl around home 90% of the time.

didi - she does, but we have tiles so it gets away on her. So she uses the dining chairs to move around the house lol
