Oh Cherie sweet pea...........Olivia screamed and cried pretty much constantly for the first few months. If she was awake, she was screaming. I had NFI, and as for the interpretting the cries.....totally ambiguous to me!

As Bec mentioned about her DD:
She grew out of it by about 4 1/2 months i think.
So did Olivia. At about 4 months it was as if something unkinked in her system, and she just stopped screeching all the time and was a placid happy little lady..........but let me tell you, those first few months were foul.

I can remember saying to DH as I cried my eyes out "Where is the joy in this????"
Those first few months seemed like an age of confusion, but we got through it.

I can offer no solutions to you sadly.......I just send cyber hugs and the hope that things smooth out sooner rather than later. And remember: NO MUUMY GUILT! You are doing a brilliant job!

Ditto what Lucy said! Definitely no mummy guilt. I think my first post came out all wrong in that with Paris it stressed me out every single time she cried. With Seth it only stressed me out for a few days and I realised that perhaps this was the way my kids were wired. They both had reflux but it was manageable. What I meant by I could tell what their cries were is exactly like Nadine mentioned, when there is pain or sickness you know.

I actually feel slightly heartless because with Seth I wasn't so worried when he cried and I knew all his needs were met, I'd just cuddle him or rock him or whatever and tried not to expect there to be some magic fix so I found it was a lot easier to deal with, oh and try and share the love LOL so that I would get breathing time

Me too.........Lexie was crying this afternoon and I kind of thought "Oh sweets, you'll be right......." (Then I realised she has cut her first little ivory and I feel so norti for not being a bit more empathetic!)

DS was like this... it's weird, he sort of tailed off. I didn't really notice it until I read this post! He's still a bit grumpy in the evenings, but I can calm him now. He isn't after anything apart from me singing and dancing him around the kitchen, or just shaking a rattle while I eat (just shaking it, doesn't have to be in his face or me holding him). He loves dancing and me screaming KISSES! before I kiss him, or singing the "Mummy loves Liebling" song. But that took a while to find out! If all else fails I just strip his clothes off, he loves being naked.

Now he can talk a bit I can start to figure out what his little words mean (DH keeps asking me what ggggggguh means, I think it's a "I'm fairly content but starting to be bored" message but really it could be anything!) and that helps (a little bit; DS has to know what he wants too!), but different screams? Nah. DH claims he could tell the difference, but he said they were for feeding just so I'd take him back LOL.

Anyway, you're not alone. It does tail off eventually. I hope your laddie calms down for you very soon.

Hi Cherie! I know what it's like...my bubba cried basically all day and night except when he was on the boob till he was around 4 months old when we finally got him onto reflux medication... Actually he never really cried, he just screamed... These days he rarely cries or screams though which is AMAZING! I know other babies who have hardly cried in their 10 months of life yet though...they're all so different...

Jesse would cry for about 3 hours most evenings until he was about 4 months old or so. We tried everything and nothing worked for him. In the end DH would just sit with him and let him cry. He would then fall asleep. Now he hardly cries unless he falls or does something silly like that. Hope your bubs grows out of it soon.
