I def loved my pay tv when caleb was that age!!! we had about 3 hour blocks too, but the little bugger would sometimes be awake longer than half an hour... now that got tuff!!!! For us it all got HEAPS better around the 10 week point, but lots of my friends said 6 weeks it got better for them.!!
The first 3 months DS was feeding every 2 hours and taking up to an hour to feed, nappy change and resettle, which gave me an hour to sleep in between. That was around the clock. I was a zombie Many a times we both fell asleep during feeds especially in the wee hours of the morning, only to be awoken again with him rooting for the next feed. Felt like it would never end.
It does get better though, DS started sleeping through from about 4.5 months.
We have a six week old and we are getting about the same too - 3-4 hours in a row and up for about half hour, some times an hour. Its broken sleep but its still good and keeps us sane...
I find she is settled from about 10- 11pm and wakes for feeds at about 2am, 5am and 9am. We get up & start the day properly at 9ish. She has basically had this routine from the time we bought her home from hospital...
Sometimes her Dad will get up with her from 6am and let me sleep in - delightful...
oh well nice to know i am not the only one who is living on broken sleep, of a few hrs here and there.
My day though starts at appr 5am, as when i am up breastfeeding at this time of morn, DS(2) is about to start his day.. oh the w/ends are good when DH is home
