Darby is 3.5 months now, and for the past few weeks her pooing has changed. She used to be a "every feed she poos" girl, but now it will be a few days in between poos. At the moment it's been almost a week since her last poo. She doesn't seem to strain, she doesn't seem uncomfortable, she's still having plenty of wet nappies, she is passing wind... and she's solely breastfed.
Do I need to worry? And is there anything I can do to encourage her poo? I know it's going to be a huge one when it finally comes out, but I feel so bad with her little body holding so much in!
Hun, breastfed babies can for up to 10 days without a poo- just another advantage of bfing She might have a bellyache when she does do one- try rubbing her belly, clockwise, with a bit of baby oil, and that should do the trick. if they are still nice runny or pasty poos, and she's not straining, don't worry about it.
Lee-bee, my little girl is 2 1/2 months and it has now been three and a half weeks since she did a poo. She is also exclusively breast fed. I rang the Australian breastfeeding association the other day and the lady told me that its normal for some babies to go up to 28 days without pooing....DD is not uncomfortable in any way and gives plenty of wet nappies plus she farts like a trooper (& they absolutely stink!!)!. I have to admit tho, that if she hasn't done one by Tuesday which will be 4 weeks, then i'll be going to the GP. I am DREADING it when it does happen though.... just hope my hubby will be home to lend a hand getting the bath ready!!! (and dealing with the nappy... hahahah)

ooooh yeah got me one of those too!! Elijah is the only one of my boys who has done this and I think roughly 10 days is his longest time between... the farts OMG knock me out and does them when I'm feeding him dammit! lol. Some of the poos explode but not normally. They really are using EVERY bit of the milk cos there's not wastage with BM. It's great though cos I hate pooey nappies lol.
she finally pooed yesterday afternoon! I knew it was getting close... that wind, oh my! Can you imagine the embarrassment when she's 21 if she knew about this lol! I love babies, they can get away with anything, they're just so beautiful!
I think she's teething now - which is a whole other kettle of fish... red cheeks, gnawing her fists... here we go!
