DD was born at 1am on a monday morning, XP went to work at 6am. he was casual so didnt get any time off, so i was home basically alone for the first 10 days til i went back into hossy....
The day after I came home from hospital so Day 4 I think. He only got 5 days paternity leave so we only used two (while i was still stuck in hossy and coming home) and saved the other three for each wednesday for three weeks to help give us a midweek break and some time together. we also used some annual leave doing this.
DS was born on a Sunday so DH had Monday off, then went back to work for the rest of the week while I was in hospital. Then when I came home, he had 2 weeks off.
When DD was born, he took 4 weeks off.
With DD, he took the 1st week off as sick leave from the Tuesday when I went into labour. He was home till the following Tues(the mon was a Public holiday) and then for 2 weeks worked half days which only worked as we lived alot closer to the city than we do now.
With DS, who was born on the Monday am, went into work for a court appearance wed am while DD was in CC, then went to work on the Friday as my mum had the day off. Then for the next 2 weeks, he would take a couple of days off, and then work on the Wed DD was in CC and the day that my mum had off. I think by the end of the 2nd week home, I'd only had been on my own for about half a day as it was a struggle to get used to having the 2.
Yep I have support around me....DH work demands was one of the reasons we decided that I come home to Aus instead of having the baby in Singapore with no one. If I was having her there, there is NO WAY IN HELL I'd be letting DH go to paris to talk about rocks at a conference!
I am living at home with Mum, and although she works she will be home at the end of the day. I also have my Sister and DH's family around if I needed them.
Ya know though, it's a bit frustrating when you make a baby with the MAN and he runs off to work straight afterwards! I think the preggy hormones are getting to me just a tad! All your comments made me feel heaps better though so thanks x
MiniMax, TBH i think it was easier on my own than when XP was actually home caus he is a major PITA and expected the house clean, dinner made, and baby not-crying!! (hence why i left him when DD was 2 weeks old lol).....having help would make it so much easier so its great you hav that option x
Both times DH has only had 2 days off with me. But I had my mum here (she only lives around the corner). This time, DH will only take probably 2 days off as well, and will probably take a week or 2 off when bub is 3 months old.
I guess though it also makes me a little sad that he will miss out on that teeny tiny baby stage! They only grow from birth!
TMama - I remember DH was a PITA with DS too.....didn't REALLY do that much, but I remember just wanting him there around me IYKWIM. He spent most of his time playing poker on facebook!!!
