I agree with everyone else too. If you do it anonymously your friend won't know it's you and either way it's important to make sure the little bubba is safe.

I would report it Hun. It's obviously really stressing you and it sounds like an awful situation. I know for a fact that they will not disclose your identity to anyone- my parents were reported a few times when we were young (my father was abusive) and we do not know to this day who reported it (I suspect the school because of the bruises and welts but I still don't have a clue )
