I need advice - sensitive topic!!!

Plz move this if needed but I was completely unsure where to put this.

I've been privie to some info that worries me.

A close friend has a family member who had a child adopted - forced adoption (from birth) due to drug problems and a complete lack of co-operation with DOCS.

This person is still the same and it pains me to say has had another baby. From what info I have I'm not sure that DOCS have been informed as the hospital where the baby was born has been given false information.

I have further details but really don't want to disclose too much. Would you report it? And if so to who? Hospital? DOCS? Tell a dr who could air concerns for you?

I feel that if this isn't reported and something happens everyone who knows - including me is to blame. However If it's found to be me who reported it is my friend going to be upset. I think surely someone (hospital or DOCS) MUST know. The baby is in NICU would they have run tests at all??

if they are already in the system..that is already has a child in care docs should be aware. the hospital would have informed them.
you can always do it anyway. no one has to know

I'd report it. The hospital might yet, but I still would. I'd rather an upset friend than risking a babies life...

Pretty sure reporting to DoCS is very private.

You can report to DHS anonymously. I was recently in a sticky situation but once I spoke up to the right people I felt much better and they have no idea it was me who reported them.

I agree with everyone else in reporting it. Such a sad situation

I agree with everyone else too. If you do it anonymously your friend won't know it's you and either way it's important to make sure the little bubba is safe.

I would report it Hun. It's obviously really stressing you and it sounds like an awful situation. I know for a fact that they will not disclose your identity to anyone- my parents were reported a few times when we were young (my father was abusive) and we do not know to this day who reported it (I suspect the school because of the bruises and welts but I still don't have a clue )

Sending loves to that poor little soul. Hope a good situation can be found for them.
I too think report it. If false info was given then the hospital can't know. Experienced nurses may have picked up the baby isn't from a good environment but confirmation will go along way.
    - not saying this baby has this, just a thought along these lines - what a way to start life-in detox

Definitely report. The hospital may already have done so, if bub is in detox. But you have information they need.

Do I understand correctly, the parent has booked in and had the baby under a false name to avoid the authorities knowing? Are you afraid for the child's wellbeing at all? If so, report.

Double trouble - this is the thing, it is believed that they have used a false identity at the hospital..... In this case I wouldn't know WHO I'm reporting if that makes sense. But I'll make the call today. I at least feel better if I tried.

You could tell them which hospital they're at, and that they've booked in under a false name - once they see the file for the real name, they'll do their own investigation.

Somethingto remember is that DCP don't just take kids away, and thy certainly don't do it permanently. They prefer and support reeducation and reunification wherever possible, so for the first bub to have been adopted out from birth, there was something very serious going on.

Do you think the baby is at risk?

I don't understand why you're even asking if you should report it.
I can't imagine why anyone would hesitate to report a child that they know is at risk.

In situations like this I figure I'd rather report someone and risk there not being any problems, than not report and have something horrible to happen to a child.

As Keike mentioned, they don't just take children away for no reason and they certainly don't keep them separated from their mother/father without a very good reason. And I agree that if the first child was adopted out, things must be REALLY bad so definitely report.

I actually asked if the baby is at risk.

It's easy to assume without all the information and there is a lot of assumption going on in here.
