it is hard adjusting and having those hormones all over the place. Do go and get checked for possible PND though. I have a friend who went through the same thing with her nipples/boobs and she said it was so painful she would just cry at the thought of it. I think she used Bepanthem on her nipples - but wipe before feeding. Like it has been said though, you can't BF just cos your DH says so, it's a tough job sometimes. Where on the sunshine coast are you?? If it's not too far from me maybe we could have a coffee sometime soon?

Stevie - just coming in to offer you another . Everything I have to offer has pretty much been said, the first few weeks are really hard, and no amount of reading & talking about it can fully prepare you for the onslaught that is actually having your new baby in the house. It's just impossible to fully explain the emotions & physical stresses that come with it all, but it definitely will improve.

As for your DH - he's probably trying to be well meaning in his "insistence" that you keep up with the BFing, because he's maybe had it totally drummed into him about how important it is for bubs, it's just misguided in how he's going about it. BF might be what nature intended, but crikey it's hard work in the beginning, and no shame on anyone who can't keep going with it. Lactation consultants are basically gold, if you're in a position to be able to get one in. And they're probably good for DH's to listen to, because they can explain things in a non-emotional way that boys seems to pay more attention to (which is just irritating).

Fresh air on your bb's helps as well, so when you don't have visitors, keep them aired Motherhood is sooooo glamorous

    You are doing wonderfully!!!!!

I think that handling motherhood well in the beginning is being able to say I'm not handling it well!!!!!

No one handles it well in the way you are thinking all mums (well all the ones I ever did meet)are tired and emotional and feeding is hard and unsure and all of that and I know it feels like it will never end it will. Breastfeeding can be a n amazing bonding easy thing that casues no stress...its often just hard to get there....I only fed ds1 for 7/8weeks and that wasn't even exclusive bf and it was hard in the beginning this time too

I would sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo recommend posting in the breastfeeding section...actually I'll do it for you (I really hope you don't mind this, if you do just tell me and I'll delete my post, I just think your amazign to even get on here and post ur initial post let alone be able to start another thread) hopefully barb will come in and be able to tell you a good lactation consult in your area. I really regret not seeing one with ds1 because i was having issues with ds2 that stopped me feeding ds1 and they were fixed with a 30mins with an lc at the hospital.

I agree about seeing your gp about how you are feeling, I kndew about the baby blues with ds1 but was very shocked by the actual experience with them so possibly its just that and also the stress of figuring out feed and havng a new baby but if it is pnd good to get on top of it before it gets on top of you

Plase just know you are not a failure and you are not the only one to have your experience millions of other mums have felt the same way and things will improve, you'll start to get more comfy and confident and you will love it xoxoxoxox

...where jumping on the bed is mandatory!
    2,225

My breast feeding problems werent as bad but i remember hiding under the bed covers in the begining with DD crying in DHs arms, him saying, ''ive tried eveything, she just wants to feed,'' and me sobbing ''i cant, take her away'' but in the second week my milk came in properly and it all kinda fell into place! I really hope you manage to sort your problems out soon, sounds terrible!! xx
Im sorry your having such a hard time...i really hope it improves for you soon...which im sure it will.

It all seems so ridiculous in the first few weeks, suddenly you have been handed this tiny complicated little bunddle and are ment to know what your doing!!! I cant really remember the first few months any more, i mean i remember them but only the good bits come to mind, if i really think back over those times the crazy stuff starts flooding back. trying to go out for a meal with family and DD wouldnt stop crying so everyone went out and i sat in the bed room in the dark with DD in my arms both of us just crying!! it seemed like i was the most usless mother on earth at the time! but we are doing fine now....and i hardly ever sit in the dark and cry anymore!
Big Big hugs! everyone else has given you such good advice!

Hang in there Stevie. This is a very difficult job and most of us have been to the bottom with a new baby. We all understand how you feel.

It will get heaps better, I promise. It seems like it takes forever, but it will.
