Well we did it. And I tried really hard. Honest!!

I smiled and said hello to everyone who came in. Out of about 20 odd mums, one introduced herself. The only other one who I managed to strike up a conversation with - it was her first time too!!!! And she left about half an hour before me.

DD liked it, but she spent most of the time playing with the different toys, and not all that into the other kids. The other mums, it wasn't like they were rude or anything, just busy and preoccupied. I just think I'm my own worst enemy with shyness. I won't interrupt a conversation between two people, but when they finish the chat, they tended to go away anyway. Oh well. At least I know now.

Sounds like you did pretty good for your first time! I was the same, waited for people to introduce themselves to me and DD was too fascinated by all the new toys to be interested in the other kids. I did know one lady kinda from years and years ago so I spoke to her and she introduced me to a few people. But the second or third time that we went one of the co-ordinators came up to me and another newbie and asked if we'd been introduced to people. I still have days like today, where I felt like nobody really acknowledged me but sometimes you have to make the first step. We've been going for a month and a bit now and sometimes it still feels like my first time when there's different people there all the time.
