Immunisation before Xmas - Would you take the risk??
Hi there
DD is due for immunisation (12 month ones) and I have her booked in today to get it done - would you take the risk of her feeling yuk for Xmas day - or do you think it would be OK to wait until after Xmas??
What would you do?? - can you tell I hate immunisation time??
TIA
PS - I'm running behind schedule 3 weeks already - but we had the filthy flu in this house for 2 of those 3 weeks.....
I would leave it personally. When one of my kids were due for one it fell around one of their birthdays and I rang the nurse and she said it was fine to leave it for a week.
Juliette was sick when her 18 month ones were due in November & she won't be having it until the new year now. I don't want her to be sick with lots of friends & family around, no fun at all!
Sam's due for his 12 month ones now. Given that we will be travelling to my parents' place two hours away for Christmas in the next couple of days... we're leaving them until we get home. It's not just the possibility of him feeling cruddy for Christmas, it's because he doesn't always travel well.
It does make me a little nervous knowing that he'll be around lots of people without being immunised, but I feel like I'd rather risk that than make travelling even more unpleasant.
I'd leave it. DS2 is due for his 4 month and I'm waiting till after xmas.
I usually delay mine anyway. Not really intentionally (I don't think ) but DS1 was always about 3-4 months behind due to illness or something and didn't have his 18 month until just before his second bday.
I would leave it. I think that kids need the opportunity to rest as much as possible after immunisations and Christmas is a pretty busy week and my kids don't sleep as much as usual that week because of all the things we are doing.
12 month immunisations are also 3 needles (from memory) and both my kids have had bruises on their arms and legs at the injection sites after their 12 month ones.
I took my ds to get his today so i guess we will see how he goes. I'm not particularly concerned though. He is already cruddy with more teeth coming through so it cant get much worse. As for christmas - well we dont have to travel more than 20mins away from home so if we need to leave then we will.
