    ingrown nail/infection

DD1 woke up with a really red and swollen finger. its right near her fingernail and there is a tiny bit of yellowish looking stuff just under her skin on the edge of the nail line. i am assuming its an ingrown fingernail. is it something i need to see a GP about. or should i just soak it in salty water a few times a day? she says it isnt sore, and when i touch it it isnt hurting.

Considering that there is no pain as yet, I would probably just go into the Chemist with your daughter and ask the opinion of the Pharmacist, chances are that you may be able to treat it with some over the counter medication. I'm no expert though, but at least s/he will be able to give you some worthwhile advice

I'd do the salty water. It's probably just from a bit of torn skin or cuticle. I've had that happen before as you're describing. Obviously keep an eye on it JIC.

Yeah, the salty water sounds like a good plan too, will draw any other infection out
