Kids clothes - what's the most you have spent?

On Facebook I follow a page called Georgie Girl. She makes the most gorgeous dresses and ruffles, and they literally sell out in seconds on her madeit page. She loads them and bang, they are gone. She is having a stall at the MummyTree markets in Queensland and people are flying across the country to try and get one of her dresses, and apparently the organisers are talking about getting security to keep the queues orderly . She occasionally takes part in charity auctions on FB and say for a dress and ruffle set, the bids usually top $400 or $500. I am always in awe of this - it is amazing for charity but I also think that if she said "I'm putting up a set for $500 and going to keep the profits', her buyers would fall over each other in an effort to purchase it. Her stuff is extremly well priced considering it is so highly sought after - around about $30 ish for an item.

It's got me thinking - what's the most you have ever spent on clothing for your kiddies? Due to the fact I am a country girl and don't have much variety, I am a Target and Kmart shopper so tend to pick up things very cheaply. I am pretty sure the most I have ever spent on DS is about $35 for a shirt for his birthday party, and I think the most expensive thing in the twins wardrobe is ruffles that cost me $20 each. I absolutely love clothes and buy a lot of them but if I was to spend hundreds of dollars on a items, I'd have to make them wear it every single day for the next 2 years to make it worth while

Ski gear is probably the most expensive stuff I have bought for my kids.
About $200 for boots. About $100 for outer wear. I usually buy from the US outlet stores to save money because a jacket that costs US$60 nline costs about AU$150 in the shop in Australia.

The most I have spent on an item from a FB page is $90 for a dress - I bought 2! lol. The most I have spent from a regular store was about $80 for a pair of jeans for DS2 and I often spend around $80 on a pair of shoes for him.

I'm a kmart/target shopper. I spent $22 on a winter coat that lasted her this year and most likely next year as DD grows slowly (birthday next week and is still in alot of 000).
But, the most expensive thing was a 7pc set for $25 from Target. Had to buy it because DD was about to be discharged and we had nearly no clothes for her, and Target 00000 was about the only thing that fitted her, apart from Pumpkin Patch Premmie clothes.

I'll admit, I don't spend more than $7 an item.

The expensive things my DD's have have been bought by others as presents. I just can't justify spending big dollars on clothes that they wont wear much and grow out of way to quickly and I can guarentee that they will spill something on it 5 minutes after they put it on. I think the most I have spent is $18 on a dress for DD1.

I think about $100 on a pair of school shoes. Shoes tend to be the most expensive thing with the kids.

I used to follow her until I saw one day how narky she could be over other women making ruffles and that put me off her for good.

I would love to tell you my kids have lovely designer clothes but they are hard core players and I can't justify their stuff just getting trashed. We live in the country too and rarely go to lots of 'nice' places. Red dirt and those beautiful white outfits your see do not go together. So Kmart and Target it is. And considering DD has grown 6inches and 3 shoe sizes this year alone....well you know.
DD's shoes are getting more exxie due to paddle sized and width feet so they would probably be the most expensive. If I want something more lovely I hit ebay.

I paid $70 for a pair of pediped sneakers for ds. But seriously... I had to get him out of those crocs! he will only wear shoes with a soul that actually flexes (and do you know how hard they are to find in kids shoes?!) I almost jumped for joy when I read the description "like walking in bare feet" on the side of the pediped box. Thankfully he loves his "noo doos"

I am rediscovering the joys of how cheap baby clothes are....DD's clothes are stupidly expensive by comparison, more so if I take her shopping with me. I'd routinely pay $30-50 per outfit for her, but the most expensive item she's ever had was $300. Admittedly it *was* her flowergirl dress for my wedding. Worn once, looked gorgeous and now sits in my wardrobe forevermore.

I hardly ever buy clothing (the grandparents do enough of that but they are both bargain hunters and op shop lovers and UK is cheap so I suspect their top limit would be about $25) - I like to upcycle bits myself or make stuff - my daughters favorite thing to wear is a skirt of mine which I fashioned into a dress for her because she was throwing a wobbly about wanting to wear a dress and all hers were in the wash - it looks ok, I am not keen but if she likes it then that is a win I suppose. I hate shopping and don't really 'get' alot of children's clothing that is about e.g. ruffles I just don't understand. I think most have paid myself for an individual item was a pair of Giggle and Hoot PJ's for DD (excluding shoes - I have paid about $80 for shoes - not for anything fashionable just for ones that are suitable for her feet - we see a podiatrist so have specific requirements) - Shoes are probably one thing I think is worth spending money on (second hand shoes can work, but often are no good because they are worn in a way that fits someone elses feet).

I paid $50 for a maz-a-licious pinny and nappy cover set, and a similar amount for a MillaRuby dress. I don't mind paying the money for WAHM goodies; it's so hard to find locally made stuff. Apart from that type of thing, though, all of DD's clothes are handmedowns or bought pre-loved. Also, in Brissy summertime it's so bloody hot that she's just living in a singlet most of the time. So I am having fun prettying up her singlets. That's cheap. So it all balances out.

I see the Georgie Girl stuff. It's cute, but not really worth flying cross country for. There are plenty of other sellers on FB with stuff that is just as nice, and less hype.

i've done the same (and feel the same about GG stuff!) - have also paid a fair bit for things at auction for charity - well above "value" but i figure there is the "value" plus the donation to a charity i would normally support too...

the most i've ever spent on any single outfit was about $450 for DD's Christening outfit - but that was the whole shebang - dress, nappy cover, bonnet, bib, shoes,stole - all in raw silk and antique lace. we looked at other options which were less expensive, but given our family didn't have any sort of tradition of handing something down in our family, we decided on doing this as a special start for DD.

i'm a fan of heaps of kids clothes things on fb, and tend to buy via them moreso than in the local retail chains. granma buys stuff local, so we look at wahm stuff. have picked up some gorgeous dresses for as little as $2.50 each - you just have to be in the right place at the right time. there are a few that i regularly support and have had dresses custom made (me choosing the materials etc) for less than i could get it done locally.

I spend more on nappies than clothes lol most of the kids stuff are presents or hand me downs the most expensive thing was a jumpsuit DH bought for DD when she was born $20 thats about my max i did get a dress and ruffles for DD's birthday but i only paid $8 for the ruffles coz i won $35 worth of stuff and they are just as cute as the Georgie girl stuff
i never worked out why shes so popular i can think of heaps of other WAHM who are nicer and make just as cute outfits JMO of course

Its shameful the amount of money I have spent on ladies wardrobe, I would hate to even think of an amount. I could probably clothe a small village somewhere for a couple of years at least I reckon.

I went to the Mummy Tree Market on Sunday and bought two dresses and an absolutely gorgeous playsuit. I cringed when I saw the price of it but I had to have it. $45 for the playsuit and $30ea for the two dresses. Its just as well I only have one girl

I dont understand the whole GGirl thing either. As cute as her ruffle bums are there are so many talented Mums making the same thing and who is going to know that DD is wearing a GGirl ruffle bum from someone elses?
Really not fussed on her dresses at all either. They are quite plain and basic looking to me and if I am going to spend $30-$40+ for a dress I want it to be the bomb diggity.

MIL bought a dress and nappy cover set and a little soft rattle the other day at a fancy schmancy store in malvern, $88 later :/ I think the outfit was $70 ish. I love the target stuff, carters, sprout etc. Probably $30 for a winter jacket for DD next year.

I spend way too much, and have too much!
I already have bags of clothes DS has outgrown. Keeping them just in case we have another baby and it's a boy.
What I should be doing is selling it all.
