Just wondering how long your feeds normally take? I am finding that each feed is taking between hour to hour and quarter including change. Little one is a bit inconsistent on breast and on some feeds may take a while to get going before he will start to suck properly (say 10 minutes). I try breast compression and tickling he will do a few hard sucks and then just lie there and there another few hard sucks. Other feeds however he will suck from the begining. I am leaving him wake to feed unless he goes over the 4 hr mark during the day - at night I leave him if he doesn't wake. Regardless at the end of the feed he appears content.
He is 10 weeks old tomorrow but we had feeding issues in the begining so he hasn't been waking to feed for that long. Does he just need more practice to get quicker or is there other things I can do to encourage his sucking reflex. Or does this just fall into the category of fussy feeder?
Nappies etc are all good and had good weight gains last two weeks so I know he is getting food into him just would be great if it could be touch quicker
Good on you for persisting through your challenges. Sounds like you and your bubba are doing great. I can't help you with attachment advice. I will however say that my DD has to be the worlds slowest feeder lol. At 10 weeks some feeds were 2 hours long. She is 4 months now and her feeds are shorter. At 10 weeks I was advised to feed bub for however long she wanted, and to follow her lead. Give the ABA a call, I am sure you'll get some great advice especially with attachment. HTH
