My DD does the same. she's now 2.5 and still tells people that she fell off her bike and bumped her nose -happened when she was 16 months. I wonder whether your DS tells new people because that prompts you to tell the story of what happened by way of explanation. Then it is reinforced as he hears the story again.
Not unusual at all. I've witnessed the same behaviour in many little children. I agree with Santosha in that he is prompting you to tell the story to explain and he hears it again, maybe to make him feel better and reinforce that it was stuck. Do you remind him everytime that its not stuck anymore and tell him it wasn't good, maybe he just needs that reassurance its ok.
Could be the repetition of the story I guess. I hadn't thought of it that way. We always tell him it's not stuck any more, most of the time he'll tell you, or who ever he's talking to at some point, specially if they ask.
