    At a loss...

My little bitty violet gained only 2oz in 2 months. Last time she only gained 6 oz. in two months. It is becoming really hard. Our DD1 was always in the 3rd percentile so her ped wasnt worried but dd2 (Violet) went from the 63rd percentile to now the 3rd

I am breastfeeding and we just started pureed foods. She hates fruits and she hates brown rice cereal. So our next option is to try avacao mixed with some cocnut oil and to try some unsweetend whole milk yogurt.

I just want my baby to gain weight!. As a breastfeeding mother I cant help but think Im doing something wrong...even though the Dr. said that isnt the case.

My DD was the same. A very slow weight gainer and dropped down to the 5th percentile. She was FF and I couldn't get that much milk into her. She is also a small food eater and is petite. I wouldn't worry too much, all kids are different. If I had kept worrying what the MCHN said to me then Id be a basket case. sounds like your DD is just a small eater, like mine

    Try not to stress.

My DS1 was a big boofa when born, but dropped down to 50th pc within a couple of months and then had a *loss* one month! But he's fine - they learn and they change and they go at their own pace.

If you are offering food, offering boob, keeping an eye on their nappies and their activity levels, you're doing everything tight.

She'll eat when she's hungry, and you'll spot it if she's not getting enough, or if she's sick.

    Trust your instincts.

If your 1st bub was also around the 3rd percentile, then it is possibly the same genetic weight for your 2nd bub. My DD was born 75th, but was a slow grower and ended up around the 10th for weight. It is just her metabolism. DS was born around 90th i think, but has slowed to around 50th. i think he will be bigger than DD though, he is just a bigger build.

If your little one is still happy and not losing weight, just keep doing what you are doing. She will start to get in to solids eventually if you just keep offering. Have you tried finger foods?

We have tried finger foods but she rejects them. I did get her to eat some avacado tonight and am thinking about adding some coconut oil to her other veges.

Ds2 was the same, is the same.
Your daughter is just starting foods, its meant to be fun- for everbody. Keep offering puree fruit (a great way is to freeze mixes in ice cube containers, then you can get a little and later easy to mix food) pumpkin was a hit for our kids early, if egg isnt an issue, egg yolk is good. Just fry up an egg and pull of the yellow, was easiest I found. yoghurt is awesome if cows milk is ok. rice cereal and puree fruit is good together, dd wont touch it on its own but mixed- yummmmm. custards are good.
Its normal for a baby to not like anything (our dr says) but you just keep offering. Let them see you eat some (or pretend to and make yummmm noises)
Relax, she doesnt need food yet. Your doing a good job

I would concentrate more on the mlik at this age, rather than purees or rice cereal. Milk is much more nutrient rich and higher calories.
She is gaining - is she growing and developing well ohterwise?

Also, re percentages, I'm guessing these are averages based on population that is mostly formula fed? Have you had a look at where she is on the WHO charts for breastfed babies? You'll find they're quite different.

We use the WHO charts so its the same. Her head and length percentile is good its just weight. As for milestones she is doing okay. She still has a hard time sitting up without support...but she is crawling early?

She LOVES her purees so we only give her two small amounts a day. But im thinking of switching those for more healthy fats. She hates fruits and cereals. So Im thinking we might just work with avacado and cocnut oil for awhile as she loves avacado and ill add some cocnut oil with peas. Ped said we could start giving her yoghurt but Im not sure that Im ready to introduce cows milk.
