A message for those with bubs who don't like sleeping

Did you know, my son did not like to sleep when he was a baby? We spent the first 2+ years locked in battle - feeding, rocking, singing and cuddling him into submission (not to mention the odd bit of driving and pushing in the pram).

Tonight, I suddenly realised I hadn't heard from him for a bit and thought I'd better see what he was up to... well, I found my little boy all tucked up, fast asleep in bed.
And that's what he does now, when he's tired. And bedtime is a lovely time for all of us because he is happy to go to bed.

    Hang in there!

    Aw that's so cute

And yep, definitely gets better. My first was rocked to sleep for every nap and bedtime for probably his whole first year...now he's almost 3 and loves going to bed!

    So cute and so true!

I have a 3yr old that sometimes asks to go to sleep before the sun goes down haha, she loves her sleep and I pinch myself each morning when she hasn't got up to us all night!! She didn't sleep through till just before her 3rd Birthday, just before her sister arrived to take over lol. She cat napped, she only really slept on me, she fed for comfort constantly, she was rocked. It was a long term commitment, it was so worth it though.

We choose our battles in this house and I'm glad sleep was never one of them! Wanted to add my 'hang in there'

Also wanted to add how funny it is with my second, somebody wanted advice from me because their baby never slept out of their arms and I stopped to realise, hmm my DD2 never does either but I just don't notice. It seems normal to me now to have my baby sleep with me. She lives in the sling while I chase DD1, I've never even thought about her sleep at all... having her right there she can feed whenever, sleep whenever, watch us whenever. She is the most chilled out and relaxed baby and I feel the same... she has never slept away from me, always cat naps, feeds constantly and it just feels like such a non-issue this time. Just having that window into the future is so helpful for my perspective this time.

for all those in the midst of it.

    Exactly that.

There are many times when I really would have needed to hear this in those crazy early years. Now I can vouch for the same thing.
When you know how bad it can be, it makes those sleeping babes all the sweeter.

To those still holding it all together while their little one's battle sleep

Oh yes, it gets better! Even if you do nothing. And I agree with JF, makes the next time seem so much easier, you have no expectations, lol.

Thanks for the reassurance. My little man just wants to sleep next to his mother at the moment.
