Just wondering how you swapped from wrap or cocoon to a sleeping bag and what age? DS is almost 6 months and is in a cocoon thingy (wrap me up maybe? Where the arms are up near the head). Anyway he seems to get a bit agitated by being restricted and I also think he would like to be able to roll or move a bit more. He is still in the bassinet in our room but is really too big so I'm wondering, should I move him and go cold turkey to sleeping bag at the same time or is he too young? Should I just change one thing at a time? He still wakes to be fed overnight but pretty much self settles and is quite a good sleeper (apart from at the moment while he has a cold though....whoooooole other post!)
Ds2 is still in bassinet, going into cot next week (if I can clean it out ). He didn't like his arms wrapped in tightly for early on - likes to have arms stretched out above his head. So I swapped him over early to sleeping bags - about 2/3 weeks old. I started by having ds2 wrapped under arms so arms were free to see if he'd sleep better that way (he always used to wiggle them out so I figured I might as well let him sleep that way). He swapped over fairly easily after that.
Ds2 is a fairly good sleeper too and does some self settling and only waking for 1-2 feeds overnight (unless he stirs for a coughing session the past couple of nights)
DD is still in bassinet at the moment, but has been in a sleeping bag for the last couple of months. She was getting out of the wrap and pulling it over her face. She sleeps beautifully at night and is much better during the day
DD had a sleeping bag that had her arms near her head too. We started the transition by first putting her into her cot in that sleeping bag and then putting her into a gro bag where her arms were out but still wrapped the lower half of her body. She then started to want to sleep on her tummy so we stopped wrapping so she could move around. The reason we moved her to the cot first is that if her arms were out in her bassinet they would be hitting the sides of it and would wake her up.
