DD is 5 weeks tomorrow, currently her face is covered in milk spots, I recall DS being similar at a similar age.
I just bathed her and noticed they are also on the top of her back and chest - a bit red, very dry
Could it be something else or just a pretty full on case? She's had them for about a week so far, from memory they went away with DS without me needing to do anything
I have no real tips on how to reduce it sorry. I wouldnt say its anything to worry about though if its elsewhere as well its likely to just be milia, and because she's fair it is more obvious (and possibly more prone?). My boys both had terrible skin for the first few weeks/months even the poor little darlings. Ds1 just cleared up altogether but ds2 ended up with infant eczema on his forehead which needed hydrocortisone to clear it up unfortunately. Keep an eye on it and if she seems happy enough I wouldnt worry for the time being.
Oh I wouldnt use ANY soap on here though (and maybe not sorbolene either coz of fragrances) if you feel she needs something more than water to wash there are some good soap free baby alternatives at the pharmacy, I used seba med. HTH
DD got a 'rash' at about 6 weeks, wasnt really a rash, but exactly like you described, like her milk spots spread and covered her whole head and neck and torso. i talked to my mach nurse about it and she said its really normal and common, as at about 6 weeks PP your hormones are balancing out and she will be affected by it. DDs cleared up in about a week i think (i didnt do anything special with them)
I agree with the pp the mchn told me they can take around 3 weeks to go and she was spot on with dd. ds had them too and I can't remember but I'd guess they took around the same amount of time going by photos
Ahhh, thanks Ladies, sometimes it looks a bit redder, but mostly it looks pretty fine, she's not bothered by it. I have our Paed 6 week check up on Monday so will ask him about it then.
Miss A got something very similar and I found the warmth from the bath really reddened them. I can't use anything at all on her skin at this point. The rash/spots probably disappeared around 8 weeks
My girls both got it Nay. DD1 had it worst and she had it for about a month from memory. DD2 had it for about 3 weeks. They both got some spots on their shoulders and chest. I think Shayla's was worse because of the temperature and my MCHN suspected that she was also getting a bit of heat rash on top of it because it always looked worse when her face was warm (like if it had been resting against me when she slept). I just made sure I washed their face a couple of times a day with clean water.
