    Molluscum Contagiosum - any tips?

my 13mth old son has one large pimple on the back of his head, which was diagnosed as Molluscum Contagiosum. He's had this for about 5mths or so. recently, i've noticed a few more pimple-like lumps near this big one. and also some red lumps on his face (4 on his cheek) that have been there for over 6 weeks now, although they havent developed into the typical yellow pimple like lump as the one on the back of his head.

does anyone know of successful treatments? if there are some developing on his face, i'd really like to get them treated. the doctor wasnt much help and said they just go away themselves, even if it takes years....

    Hi Leanne

If I can remember rightly, both of my daughters had this, as you can tell from its name, it is contagious (once the 'pimples' are broken).

My girls were a bit older when they had it, 6 and 4, so the treatment was able to be explained to them, because it wasn't nice but it did work.

We were told to 'break' or 'pop' the spots and the put on a special cream (available only on prescription) I think it was Kenacort.

We did a couple of spots each night and then checked them regularly for anymore that came up and did them straight away!!

This thread might help. Its only very short but perhaps on of these mums who have dealt with it before may be able to offer some advice?
