DS was 3 in October and has recently started freaking out a bit about monsters. He wants me to go with him to his room to scare them away before he goes in, and at night time (well the other night) woke up trembling asking to go and sleep in my bed (he is currently sleeping in bed with Mum while we are in transit)
Why does this happen to little ones? I remember being about 3 and having that eerie feeling and pulling covers up over my head, and my Mum remembers that feeling to.
Does it happen to everyone's kids? How extreme can it get? DS has a t-shirt with a 'monster' (a cute one) on it which we are putting on him at night to 'scare' the other monsters away. Mum also remembers having to make up a Monster Away Spray for my sister too.
I always made a point of not talking monsters with him, or reading scary books, but when we were in singapore our 'helper' (don't know how good a help that was) played Monster games with him....once it was started, it was too late to even get her to stop....as the seed was planted in DS's head.
