Might sound funny to say but a much older friend of mine all her three children slept a minimum of 16hrs per day ... they are all well into adulthood now & turned out to have brilliant professions ... and one is a Doctor ... one is a Lawyer ... and the third one is a Head Nurse in large Hosp ... Maybe a lot of sleep did them well, LOL![]()
Yes, enjoy it! There are all different ranges of 'normal'. Some babies sleep alot. Some babies don't sleep alot. Some can stay awake for 3 horus at a time, some stay awake for 90 minutes at a time. She'll gradually stay awake for longer and longer (until you get to the point where you think WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO SLEEP CHILD!). LOL!
I would think as long as she is alert when she's awake, gaining weight, feeding enough, all those health and wellbeing signs for babies then its just her degree of normal![]()
I had also wondered the same thing even though DS is a smidge younger. My DS is normally up for about 1 hour 15 mins per feed, and only feeds 4 times a day... so he's only up for about 5 hours a day (~19 hours sleep), and similiarly is happy & full of beans when he is awake. So saying, some days he is awake for a bit longer than that. But I didn't ask cos I thought I might sound daft...and for example, the mother's in my mother's group did NOT want to hear me wondering if my child was sleeping too much lol... so it's good to hear all the responses. I guess they each just have their own sleep requirements and we're lucky enough to get the ones that love their snoozy-time!
And lol Smiles4u, love that info!![]()
Well, if a good amout of sleep leads to gainful professional jobs as adults then it looks like both of my children are aiming to be unemployed.
I would give anything to have the stress of lack of sleep removed. For me, it has been the most challenging aspect of parenting so far. eej, enjoy your little one's sleep time hun!
