Thumbs up My DH's great idea!

And no, for once I'm not being sarcastic

We have a problem a couple of times a week where DS just screams when we put him in the bath - usually if he hasn't had a second nap, and he is getting really overtired, and its close to bedtime. My god, he can scream the house down. Well the other week, I took his nappy off, plonked him in the water, the screaming started. I had to give him a bath cos he was sooo dirty, and needed his hair washed, and didn't know what the hell I was going to do because all he wanted to do was scream, stand up and try to climb out of the bath.

So then DH came down the hall, turned off the bathroom light (at this time I was like.. WTH are you doing man??) and then turned on the TORCH. He had retrieved one of the torches from the kitchen for some reason, and was shining it around the bathroom.

Well... surprise surprise... DS shut up. Completely. Even started laughing and going "Woooowwwww"

So now.. everytime he has a screaming fit in the bath.. this is what we do.... its amazing.

Just thought if I could help one other parent out there from pulling their hair out at bathtime, this was worth mentioning.
    :-)

That's hillarious! I'll have to tell DH about this one. He has bath time duties, and occassionally Nina will have a hissy fit.

Jodi - you will have to let me know how you go!!! I'd love to know if this works for others or if my child is just really weird or something.. (which wouldn't surprise me, both myself and his father are quite strange!!!)

That's beautiful. The power of novelty for distraction huh? It would actually be so much more peaceful and calm with just a torch light too

it is ren... well probably would be more if my DH wasn't putting the torch up to his mouth and shining it in there and making weird ghost noises
We have done the bath by candlelight before, and he liked that, but much more distraction with a torch, just cos you can move it around easier....
simple ideas.... its amazing..... the peace it brings at bathtime!!!!
