I just wanted to share an accident that my son (just over 2 years old) had on a popular children's bed. I say popular because ive seen a few pics of other BB members with a bed of the same style. We have a pooh bear one, but i've seen it in Dora, Barbie and other styles. My son was trying to step down off the bed and one leg slipped off while the other stayed on. The force of his body pushed his face in to the wooden guard rail and he had a gash in the side of his chin. It was about an inch long and at least a centimetre deep, i could pretty much see white flesh, and being his first injury and my hubby away it was one of the worst moments of my life! We went to the emergency room and he managed to get away with the medical superglue and these tape strips.

Its upsetting that i was there when this happened and couldn't prevent it. In hinesight i wouldn't use a bed with wooden guard rails again (they are on both sides, built on to the bed) and i guess i just wanted to mention this to others as its not something i every thought he could hurt himself on before. On closer examination, the edging is actually a little rough, and not entirely smooth. I know he has other wooden furniture and accidents happen but its just something i wanted to share in the hope that it could prevent someone else having a similar accident.

Here is a pic of the style of bed, its not a great pic, but you can see the railing on the side that i mean. We are going to take them off, as he doesn't need them anymore, but if you needed rails i might look at padding the edges in some way.
