    My Saturday Morning

Thought you might get a kick out of what happened here the other day. It's pretty funny to me now, although I didn't laugh too hard at the time! BTW, I also posted this in my blog, so you might have seen it already.

So we were having a pretty good morning - dressed, breakfast was done and cleaned up, and I was busy getting Elyse dressed. Marieke had soaked through her nappy and pjs so I took them off for her, intending to quickly get a new nappy on, and then finish Elyse, but Marieke ran away naked. I didn't feel like chasing her, since I was sitting on the floor, and getting up these days is like moving a piano. (Well, OK not truly, but I was feeling tired, and figured she can't have too much more pee in her, and I'd have her dressed again in just a couple minutes. )
But Elyse can't decide what to wear. She wants to wear her sun dress, but it is too cool for that, so I grabbed her jeans, no jeans were not good, how about a skirt, no not that skirt, etc, etc, etc. Finally settled on a jean skirt, and then on to shirts.
Not that one.... not that one.... OK, that one's fine, I'll wear it.
Marieke comes running back to me from wherever she was, and I notice wet foot prints. Hmmmmm. Trace the foot prints back to a nice puddle in the closet. OK, well that's not too bad, I guess. I can clean that. Grab the wipes and clean her feet, and then wipe up the foot prints back to the puddle. Busy wiping up the puddle when I hear Marieke yelling oh oh oh oh! She comes running over to me. New set of foot prints. Poo foot prints. Poo on her legs, poo on her feet, poo all over the floor.
(I know this is my fault - why did I not put the new nappy on RIGHT AWAY?!?!?) Throw Marieke in the bath tub, and start the water. Get out the cleaning supplies, and start wiping up the poo. Elyse is running all over trying to "help" She has clean socks on. I think. I hope. Get Elyse to sit on the edge of the tub and NOT MOVE until everything is clean. Cleaning up the last of the poo in the closet (why the closet, always?) and Elyse starts yelling - mum she's pooping in the bath tub! Oh no, mum mum mum come quick she's pooping!!!
So I come quick, and yes, she is pooping in the bath.
And trying to pick it up.
Poo now on her hands, face, shoulder.
I bend over the tub to wash her hands. Poo on my face.
Wash my face. Elyse goes down stairs to play. Start washing Marieke. She hates being washed. We have a big bathtub. She is running to the farthest corner, and I can't reach so well, especially not at 37 weeks pregnant. Water is still running, and fan is going, and Marieke is all soaped up, and most of the poo is gone.
Elyse starts yelling from downstairs. Mum mum mum mum!!! (can't hear the rest. Water going, fan running, Marieke complaining.)
    WHAT?!?!
    Mum mum mum mum mum!!!
    WHAT?!?!?!
    (mumble mumble mumble)
So I run over to the stairs - WHAT?!?!?!
I'm putting my trains away mum.
WHAT?!?! You had to yell like the house was on fire to tell me that?!?! That's great honey. Have fun.
Notice poo on Elyse's shoulder. Call her back upstairs and wash her shirt sleeve. (We are not starting over with picking a shirt! Besides, it's just a tiny spot. She's fine. Really.)
Finally get all the soap off of Marieke, and haul her out of the tub.
    Put on a nappy.
There is still a vague smell of poo. Don't really want to find out where it's from. I got it all, right? It's just the lingering aroma. Just need some fresh air. I'm going to believe that.
Wash my hands and face several times. Open the windows.
Go and sit on the couch and swear to myself that I will NEVER LEAVE THE NAPPY OFF AGAIN!!! Not even for a minute! I will get my bum off the floor, and chase that baby down, and cover that little hiney.

PMSL - so I'm not the only one who has days like that!! I'm so glad you still have your sense of humour! You are obviously a great mummy, what lucky little girls you have (and the baby on the way of course - is it a boy?, I notice the writing is in blue).

I hear you on the pooping in the tub. DD#1 was a pro. 90% of the time until she was 2. Now she just gets out to the tub

PMSL... I think half of it is in the way you tell it... I feel for you having to clean it all up though and dealing with it at 37 wks pg.

Aaahhh, thanks for the sympathies ladies. Yes, it was a great day.

MelanieR - no, we don't actually know what this new little one is. The blue writing is just a little wishful thinking. Of course, we will be thrilled whether it's a pink one or a blue one, but given the choice, we'd love to have a boy this time.
