I certainly know what you mean. I found 2 to be a challenging age with DS1, but DS2 turned 2 a couple of weeks ago and he has taken the "terrible twos" to a whole new level. DS1 was really defiant, DS2 is defiant AND a tanty thrower! You have my sympathies. It is also likely that your DS is acting out more because you have a baby due any day. Kids seems to know that a big change is coming and the uncertainty can lead to these behaviours.
I highly, highly recommend Pinky McKay's book Toddler Tactics. It is a brilliant book for explaining toddler behaviour and has great ideas for dealing with it. Having an insight into why they behave this way is useful. In reality they are not being "naughty", so much as learning about boundaries, independence and emotions. How you help get them through this vital time in their development can have a huge impact on how long the behaviour will last and how they are able to deal with emotions later on in life.
