I feel your pain. My DS has been waking up very early, 5-5:30, for the past month or so. A few mornings it was closer to 4:30. Its awful. I feel tired all the time and am grumpy all the time too!

I too have tried everything. The only thing that works even a tiny bit is for us to leave some toys in DS's room so he can have a bit of a play when he wakes up. He can last sometimes 30 minutes, which at least lets us doze a bit more. Would your DS do ok with some toys in the cot?

I'm not sure about the idea of cutting down to one nap. I've done some research on this early waking, and the general consensus seems to be that the more tired they are, the worse they sleep and the earlier they wake up. Its that whole 'sleep breeds sleep' thing, and it seems to be true. So if you think cutting down to one nap will make him more tired, I'm not sure its going to work. Of course, its worth a try for a week, but I'm not convinced. I've tried limiting DS's day sleeps, and it's made a little bit of difference, but not heaps.

You have my deep sympathy. Lets pray that daylight savings brings a change.
