    Not sleeping, playing in cot

I put DS down to bed after his usual routine over an hour ago. He was showing all the signs of being tired, but he's been in his cot playing ever since. He's not unhappy, I can just hear him babbling away and throwing his dummies out of his cot and fiddling about. I tried going in and rocking him for a bit, but he seemed to think that was just a big game and kept squealing at me.

Do I just leave him or should I try to get him to sleep- rocking, patting etc. Or should I get him up to play? (NOT a preferred option after a long day!!!)

I leave my girls.....i often hear DD#3 talking or singing to herself 30 mins after we put her to bed. The older two...well, that can be anything up to 2 hrs after we put them to bed, but they older than your son.
I think you will find its just a phase they are going thru....did he have an extra interesting day ??? There little minds can work overtime sometimes, maybe hes thinking about the days events ???

If he's happy, I say leave him. He might just be winding down a bit before he sleeps, ykwim? My ds does this sometimes. He'll yell out when he's ready to sleep and I'll go up and tuck him in.

Actually, he did have a very interesting day at his nana's, so you're probably right- he's just processing it all and winding down. Good thought.

The only problem is he throws all his dummies out and he's not very good at sleeping without a dummy!

Oh well, if he gets upset I will go in. If not, he seems happy enough!
