oh THANK GOD!!!! At the moment we are going through exactly the same thing most nights and have been since Friday! Nice to know that I am not alone!!!!
Friday and Saturday nigth she went to bed at her normal time of 630 and woke again at 930 SCREAMING!! i got her to sleep again eventuaolly only to wake up an hour and a bit later...this pattern continued ALL night...same again Sat nigth but this time DH was home and said bring her to bed with us when she slept for 6 hours on and off with only very little disturbance. Then, miracously, sunday night she slept through.
Is Leila differnt to usual through the day? I have had to keep Caitlyn home from day care cause she is such a difficult child and i have NEVER had to do that before. Wants cuddles but when you cuddle her she pushes you away and then sits on the floor and cries. Nothing makes her happy.
Saw the doc yesterday who said she had a tiny bit of red in her ear but other than that....its a virus....or teething.....or a reaction to her needles! solution = panadol!! :Wall:

Oh thanks guys! i really hope that it was just her being overtired. she was at her friends house yesterday and had a great time and lots of sleep, but maybe it was too much for her all day (while mummy and daddy frolicked at the melbourne cup LOL!).

Raven: that she isnt coming down with something...although today she is right as rain... and i have investigated the gums and they all look in order...so that it is a one off bonanza!

rebecca: yep that sounds familiar, although in our case last night she would sleep for 20 mins and then start screaming again...

Snacks: i hear ya sista! lack of sleep is def the doozy of parenthood! i think i can cope with pretty much everything else rather stoically, but sleepless nights just do me in!!

Arimeh: it would seem we have similar styles to get the little 'uns to sleep...just wish i had a rocking chair

well i will hold tight tonight and hopefully if it does happen again i wont be so shocked (i think that added to the distress on my part as she is usually a good sleeper...and there was no sign of illness IYKWIM). so strange these little people!

My DS1 has only done this once and OMG, after hours of almost continuous screaming I went to pieces. DH ran me a warm bath (at 3am) and I relaxed for about 5 mins with headphones in. DH then gave me DS1 as DH needed to go to the loo. I put DS1 naked on my chest with his bottom and legs in the water, patted him on the back and he fell asleep immediately. I don't know whether it was the water or exhaustion but we stayed in there for about an hour and he didn't stir. When I got out, I put a nappy on him and he didn't wake so I put him back to bed.

Thankfully it was a one-off. Hope your DD has a good nights sleep tonight.

How did she go last night?

My kids are like that if they have an ear infection - quite often they dont get a temp either which can have me second guessing myself about what could be the problem but I have learnt that if we have a night like that it usually means ears.

But I really hope this isnt the case for your DD.

    Hi girls,

well not sure if it was better the same...

put Leila down as usual around 7.30pm. she goes off fine. 40 minutes later (1 sleep cycle i guess) she is awake and continues to howl and scream and fight the boob for another 3 hours. it is close to 11pm before she sleeps finally (and thankfully) for the rest of the night. she woke at the usual time of 7.30 and all is fine and dandy in her world. i have NO IDEA what it is. but....i am thinking teeth. my final weapon of choice was the bonjela (couldnt find my weleda!) and bingo, within 20 minutes of giving it her she was asleep. not sure if it was just a coincidence, but i gotta run with something here people! LOL!

luckily i kept calm this time, i didnt start to blame myself (which i did the night before). we just tried to truck through it as best we could...
