After three years of telling DP off every time he swore anywhere near DD, I hardly ever swear, I mean, hardly ever. So I can't believe this has happened...
We were coming home after I picked DD up from a friend's house on Thursday evening and I pulled out into the 'Keep Clear' area to get into the turning lane. Visibility is low because of the line of cars and some stupid prat came tearing up alongside the queued cars (illegally, over double lines) and nearly wiped out the car.
I exclaimed 'd***head!' and then went on.
In the back seat, what should the little voice say? 'D***head', ever so clearly and eloquently. I quickly followed with a 'stupid idiot', which she also repeated and when she repeated the first one again, told her Mummy was sorry she said that and it wasn't a very nice word. Hasn't been repeated since, let's hope!
Needless to say, DP had a little chuckle when I told him.
oh dear! te he he! little angels that they are LOL!
well, i think you guys have done well considering her age! we have, for the last week had a very troubling time with DD (only just gone 20 months). we too hardly swear, but obviously a certain 'F' word has hit the radar...seriously we are at a loss to fully understand....
needless to say it is becoming quite embarrassing when we take her out and the cherub starts saying it over and over and over!
When kids are so young, they dont know that its a bad thing to say, after all it is just a word that we have associated 'bad' to. Kids tend to say these things because of the reaction they get from us - not to be naughty (well, not until they know what it means) but just because 'any response is a good response' knwim?
its amazing what kids pick up i on do swear a bit (bad i kno) but my DS has sed sh** when he was around 19 mths but only when he needed to ie if he fell over or something i just used to say thats a bad word and we say uh oh when we fall over... around 4 weeks ago DS was a bit crook so i let him stay up we were playing with the cardboard from the toilet roll being funny and stuff so i decided to yell in "go to sleeo" with a quick reply from DS "your a bi**h" i dont really often use this word so im not sure where he has picked it up from but i did have to ave a little chuckle just because it came from right outta left feild!!
