    Osteopathy for Buba's

I have read a number of reports that Oesteopthy could really help babies who had a some what difficult birth. My little one was unable to come out on her own accord and had to be suctioned out. She is now 16wks and doing rather well, but I just thought it might help settle her a little.

Has any one taken their bub to an Oesteo? What are your thoughts?

Although I haven't used an osteo, I have taken both my boys to a paediactric chiropractor and had great results. My first DS was a very unsettled baby and would only sleep when we held him. The chiro found that he had an undiagnosed dislocated right shoulder from birth and fixed him with some gentle manipulation. After a couple of sessions he was a new baby! He was much happier and settled.

I took my second DS just to get him checked over and the chiro found a few things that needed manipulation including his shoulder. I always finds he sleeps heaps better after we've been.

Hmm, well I'm a little bit biased... I'm an osteopath! Lots of mums bring their babies in for treatment for exactly what you're describing - nothing "wrong" as such but just to help with settling/sleeping/feeding etc. Feel free to PM me with any questions you have

i took ds to a cranial osteopath when he was about 8 weeks old. we had either 2 or 3 visits all up. I found it really helpful for his sleeping and feeding

We took both our boys to an osteo soon after birth - they both look to the left while sleeping even tho Ollie had an easy birth compared to Flynn. So the osteo helped them straighten up a little. I would strongly recommend an infant osteo.

We took DD to an osteo in the few weeks after her birth for 2 sessions as she was a forceps delivery. We didn't notice a difference as there wasn't anything obvious but we still just wanted to make everything ok given her birth, and would take her again if need be. It's very gentle and you have nothing to lose. Osteo can treat things that may cause probs later. We got a refund for part of it from our health fund.

Thanks for the info. One last question - are all Osteopath's able to treat babies or is it a specialty?

No not all osteopaths treat babies. It's best to see one who specialises in babies/children and/or is experienced in treating using cranial osteopathy. Where in Australia are you? I can most likely recommend someone near you

I took DS to a chrio initially and we did see some improvement but after a while, nothing. We had a paediatric osteo recommended to us and he's improved a lot since he's been going.

I think we have another visit tomorrow (although I'm sick so DH might have to take him).

I live in the Hawkesbruy area in NSW, but would be happy to travel to see a good Osteo. Thanks
