Osteopathy for little bubs?

Have you tried osteopathy for your bub? Did you see any benefits, and in what ways?

It was recommended to me for my little one as she has had upset tummy. She was born with the assistance of vacuum so may be abit out of alignment.

I took DS1 to an osteo for reflux and head tilt and it helped, how much it helped reflux not sure as ended up medicated.

Worth a try make sure you ask about trainng for babies in cranio osteo

I have taken all my bubs to a paediatric chiro, so a bit different to an osteo sorry. But the chiro discovered my DS1 had a dislocated shoulder from birth (he was a new baby when it was fixed ), the chiro also sorted out DS2's reflux and DD's wind issues. I see our chiro after DD has her immunisations because things tend to go out of alignment after she has had her needles. She's always back to her happy self after seeing him .

I'm sure osteos have very similar results, definitely worth a try

i took my ds2 to an osteo as he was a really unsettled baby. the osteo gave him a really good check over and said that his right hand side was a little sore but other than that, he was not uncomfortable. i felt it was good to just have someone check him over and tell me he was ok ikykwim? i think there's no harm in just taking them and seeing what the osteo has to say

i took DD1 to a chiro and DD2 to osteo, she went at 5 days and has recently started going again for ear infections, i see an osteo in Malvern

My son had an assisted (and somewhat difficult) birth too. We took him to a chiro and a cranial osteopath. Although I didn't see any 'direct' results of the osteopathy, ie. he didn't suddenly stop having reflux, or sleep through the night, or become instantly calm...he did seem happier after his sessions. I ended up going at least once a week for about 3 months. They did say that usually you see a result after about 3 sessions, so my boy was a bit different from the average! But having said that, I would still recommend it. I got more out of the osteopath than the chiro, even if it was just a better understanding of what could be contributing to him being so unsettled.

Not sure if any of that made any sense!! But I guess what I'm saying is that I definitely think that it's worth a try. And from someone who tried a lot of alternative therapies in the search for assistance, the osteopath was the the most beneficial for us.

We saw a long term osteo of my partners for our lad at 3-4 months for his torticolis and flat spot after a breech caesar.

Its important to know that pedi oseos are far gentler on bubs than they ever would be on adults, so they seem to not being doing anything in front of you.
Ours has trained with children in the UK and well versed in pedi care.

Don't e fooled though with exhorbitant prices charged by some out there claiming to be pedi osteos and physios.

Feeb I see you are in melbourne - The Vic Uni osteopathy school in Flinders Lane Melbourne has the most wonderful infant osteo practitioner. I think she sees kids on Mondays and it only costs around $20 a treatment. Your bub will basically de a demonstration model for the students - no kids get to work on bub, just the teacher. She is really lovely and I have had great results with both my boys. And cheaply!! Number is 9248 1111.

I am considering taking my little one to see a cranio sacral osteo this week! I can let you know how it goes, unless you get there first - then please let me know how you go!!!

I have an awesome Osteo who helped do some gentle re-alignement with me prior to giving birth (I was going for a VBAC and wanted to cover ALL bases to make sure it all worked out!) It was such fantastic treatment and I think worked really well. She specialises in babies and children and is in CBD Melbourne if you are looking for a referral.

I took DD to an osteo when she was 4 months old after a suggestion from the MCHN. DD had a pretty decent flat spot on her head and I wanted to try and avoid any serious issues if I could. Her head shape changed very quickly. She was also a spewy bub and for a few days after her osteo appt she would be relatively spew free. It didn't get rid of it completely though for her.
The osteo was lovely and had I known more when DS was little, I would have had him checked over aswell.

DS was delivered with forceps so we took him to the osteo for a look over when he was around 4 weeks. It was for my own peace of mind more than anything, he was fine. We saw a paed osteo in Malvern.

I took my ds to an osteo last Wednesday and although he wasn't too unsettled, the osteo did warn me that he may be unsettled, so I wouldn't be too worried

Thanks. DD is now asleep, so hopefully will sleep it off. We had a busy day, so tiredness probably isn't helping. The osteo rang back and said it would be unusual for the treatment to cause the irritability, but she will call back tomorrow to check the little one is ok.

We had an appointment yesterday and I haven't really noticed any difference in her behaviour thus far. I was warned that babies can be very unsettled after a treatment... or can sleep like a log! I hope your little one has settled down.

I am going to make a second appointment if I feel she needs one in about a week. Are you due for a follow up visit?

My little Miss has been pretty good the last couple of days. She had a big sleep that night, and woke up very happy the next day. I have another appointment next Tues.

I have also cut out dairy from my diet, so this may also be contributing to her tummy feeling better.
